A Progression Map is created on a wildfire to show a fire's progression by date. Each date is represented with a different color. The purpose of this type of map is to graphically show the progression of the incident over the landscape. These maps serve multiple audiences, and are popular especially with the public.
Here is an example of a Progression Map from the Pinnacle Fire currently burning in South Carolina, and southern North Carolina.
