Moderate to heavy prolonged precipitation expected Monday night through Thursday morning. 5-7” expected in the driest parts west of Asheville, North Carolina.
Winds will be 7-15 MPH out of the NW today with gusts to 25 on the ridges,decreasing tomorrow and Monday until the precipitation gets here.
RH the next 2 days will be in the 20-35% range. Recovery tonight and Sunday nights will be poor with inversions possible in mountain valleys.
Fire dangers continues to be high, but will decrease somewhat after the rainfall.
From November 19th-November 25th, North Carolina Forest Service (NCFS) responded to 97 fires totaling 206 acres on state and private land in western North Carolina. This does not include fires on federal lands or total acres on all ongoing fires.
