Revised Air Quality Forecast: Asheville Forecast Region Changed from Code Green (Good) to Code Yellow (Moderate)
Air Quality Conditions: Code Green conditions are being observed at
all monitors across the state. For a display of the most recent Air Quality
Index (AQI) conditions throughout the day, please visit the US EPA's AIRNOW web site. Real-time air quality monitoring
data is also available on the NC Division of Air Quality's real-time monitoring
data web pages for Ozone and Particle Pollution.
Morning Edition: Clear, dry and cool conditions are being observed
this morning as high pressure builds in to the Carolinas from the northwest.
Elevated fine particle pollution readings are being observed in the valleys of
eastern Tennessee, and with winds expected to be light but steady out of the
west today it is possible that localized Code Yellow conditions may be observed
in the Asheville forecast region today. The forecast has been updated to reflect
this concern. Otherwise, good air quality is being observed over the rest of the
state this morning and Code Green conditions remain likely today.
