PICKENS—After unsafe conditions prevented work from being done on the firelines the last three days, crews returned to the lines this morning to continue mop up and reinforcement of the firelines.
Incident command officials reported the fire is at 84 percent containment and lines appear to be holding well. An overnight infrared flight revealed hot spots in the most recently active northeastern section of the fire. Hand crews and a fire track will focus their efforts on this area today, extinguishing hot spots, clearing the firelines of falling leaves and cutting down hazard trees. Crews will also patrol firelines on the eastern area of the fire to look for any hazards.
While the weather has helped keep fire activity at a minimum and the firelines appear to be holding well, incident command officials emphasize the incident is still not over. Line improvement operations and mop-up operations likely will continue for weeks. FIRE SIZE: 10,560 acres, as of Nov. 30, 2016
