Due to decreased fire activity, Rock Mountain Fire will no longer be posting to WordPress. Please
continue to follow us for updated
fire information on Facebook, Twitter and InciWeb.
Yesterday’s Activities: Because of significant rainfall, fire crews were unable to access the fire in some areas.
With the reduced fire activity, some resources are being released
to other incidents. Crews repaired four miles of containment line that were safe to access, including the area in and around
Tate City and Upper Hightower. Structure groups
continued to repair line in the Betty’s
Creek and Big Creek area and to back haul
(remove or relocate) fire equipment and supplies away from the fire line.
Today’s Operations:
Fire activity today
will be light, smoldering with little to no smoke or movement. Wet and
slippery road conditions pose a challenge as firefighters patrol, mop up and begin fire suppression repair. They will
continue to hold and improve
dozer/hand lines in and around all structures and back haul fire equipment and supplies away from the fire line.
Resource Advisors
will be on the fire assessing dozer and hand lines for fire suppression repair plans and supervising repair activities.
Weather: Today a high pressure system
will build into the area behind the cold front bringing cooler and dryer air
over the fire. This system
will control our weather into Saturday. High temperature will be 48 to 52°F.
The minimum humidity will be 40 percent. Winds will be out of the northwest at 5 to 10 mph with gusts to 20 mph.
Zero percent chance of rain.
Closures and Evacuations
All road closures and evacuations have been lifted except
for the following:
Coleman River Road
Patterson Gap Road
Abe Gap Road
